Our grant monitor in Ghana, Fatawu Abubakar, today received the second installment for the Krobo Odumase Anglican School (see below). The installment will be delivered in the coming days. Monitor the progress of the grant here.

On Sunday 1st March, Dr Clare Chandler hand-delivered the first installment of a grant to the Krobo Odumase Anglican School. The Teach Ghana Trust will be funding a new classroom at the school named the "The Berry Room" (named after the late Baz Berry - see News item 3.1.2006). Read more about the project here.

Today, trustees Roscoe and Narsh left on an epic bike ride!

They will cycle from Land’s End to John o’Groats – a distance of approximately 1000 miles and they will do this without a support vehicle (i.e. they will carry their own equipment, clothes etc while cycling).

Ghanaian school

Earlier this year, The Teach Ghana Trust Chair (Narsh) visited a number of schools in Ghana and invited them to make applications for capitial grants from us. Two schools' applications have been approved by the trustees and a third is currently under review.

Procedures are currently being placed so that we can ensure that the grants are used appropriately and, once in place, the grants will be issued.

We feel the work of the Trust is now coming to fruition and that once the first grants are made, we will be in a better position to make a significant impact on schools in Ghana.

Quiz winners

The Teach Ghana Trust held a charity evening at the Plum Tree Pub in Farringdon, London. The night was a great successs and included a Pub Quiz, dinner and dancing into the early hours!

A large amount of money was raised for the Teach Ghana Trust and we would like to thank everybody who assisted either by helping out or simply being there.

We will keep you informed of any future events right here!

The Teach Ghana Trust trustees and organisers are in the process of of organising a fund raising event to take place in early February 2007.

Hopefully this will allow us to showcase some of the work we are doing, as well as provide an exciting and entertaining evening for everyone who attends!

More information will be made available nearer the time.

In the meantime, Seasons Greetings to all from the TGT!

Over the past 4 months Baz Berry (with help from regulars at the Star in Haywards Heath and the assistant manager there, Claire McCord) has successfully raised over £1200 which was raised through a variety of means (from a pub quiz to birthday donations for Baz’s 70th birthday). The donations were presented to members of the Teach Ghana Trust at Baz’s birthday dinner on 3rd January and they have suggested that more may be on the way!

The Teach Ghana Trust is grateful to all the work put in by Baz, Claire and any others who helped to make their fundraising attempts so successful.

On Sunday 16th April 2005 Narsh successfully made it to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. Our thanks go to everyone who sponsored him or supported him through the climb.
